The Piedmont Division serves the Atlanta, Georgia area within the Southeastern Region of the National Model Railroad Association. The National Model Railroad Association is the largest organization devoted to the development, promotion, and enjoyment of the hobby of model railroading.
There will be a huge Model Railroad Swap and Sell meet at Hobbytown USA Kennesaw location on Barrett Parkway on Saturday October 19th from10:00 am til 5:00 pm or later as needed. This is a FREE event for everyone, buyers and sellers, however sellers need to bring their own tables as none will be provided. Come check it out whlie you are on the Pilgrimage Trail!
Bob McIntyre died on October 7, 2013, with his wife, family and friends at his side. Bob was Superintendent Emeritus of the Piedmont Division. He also was instrumental in bringing the Piedmont Pilgrimage and 2013 Peachtree Express NMRA National Convention to Atlanta.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 10, at 1 p.m. at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church, 2850 Old Alabama RD, Johns Creek, GA with the Rev. Steve Wood and the Rev. Mike Roper officiating. Entombment will follow on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Jackson City Cemetery in Jackson, GA.
Some exciting new clinics will be presented in September and October at the Monthly Meetings in Tucker. September will feature Walt Liles whose clinic " I am a NEW Model Railroader.....Now What???" will answer many questions geared for those of you who are new to the hobby and have just gotten involved in our organization. You have questions, we have answers. Walt is one of our most "seasoned" model railroaders who has acquired a wealth of knowledge over the years and will now tell you how to get the most out of your new hobby.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, the previously announced layout tour of Bob Mc Intyre is being changed. Now in place for the August 18th Home Layout Tour is the HO Scale Great Cypress Lines Railroad of Howard Goodwin. Previously seen on the Piedmont Pilgrimage, the layout has undergone a growth spurt in the last year with many new scenes and featuring more completed scenery. On Saturday, August 24th, a Train N' Camp will be held at Hobbytown USA in Kennesaw which will highlight the NMRA Achievement Program. Hours are 10:00 a.m.-12: 30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. For those who are anxious to learn about the NMRA Achievement Program and the skills of Model Railroading, you are encouraged to attend and learn from some of the most experienced model railroaders including several Master Model Railroaders (MMR's), in the Division.
As most of you are aware, we are currently busily engaged in preparing for the upcoming NMRA Convention in July. Many of you are already involved and will be assisting as volunteers for this most monumental event. It cannot be overstated how important your role as a volunteer is. If you have not come forward, please consider being a part (if only for a few hours a day) of this Convention.
