My layout depicts modern day diesel freight operations. The heart of the layout is a fully functioning freight yard, complete with a 14 stall turntable, classification yard, diesel service facility and fuel depot. The layout is spread between 4 rooms, which allows for great scenery transitions. 3 of the 4 rooms are set in the mountains of the southeastern U.S. The 4th room is set in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The layout is under construction at this time, with an approximate completion date of 2012. There will be 2 levels of track. The 1st level is now fully operational while the 2nd level is still under construction. Scenery work has just begun. With so much of the layout under construction, this layout provides an excellent opportunity for anyone thinking of building a layout to see how it’s done and what’s involved.
