The 60 members of the North Atlanta O-Gauge Railroad Club have completed the first 18 months of construction of it’s permanent 3-rail O-Gauge club layout inside the front lobby of Hobby town USA. Construction commenced in April 2008 with a custom “Depot” to house the layout followed in July 2008 with the modular layout which was delivered on site in November 2008 with trains running.
Much electrical and scenery work commenced shortly after the 2008 Piedmont Pilgrimage. The unique operating aspect of this layout is the ability for Hobby Town customers (young and old alike) to run trains from one of four activation points on the exterior of the Depot. NAOGRRC members can take control of part or the entire layout from the installed operations console to run trains conventionally or via digital controls by Lionel TMCC or MTH DCS.
NAOGRRC members will be operating trains under digital control and will answer questions on Friday November 28th, 2009.
