Layout at a Glance

This layout is designed for prototype operations. The Norfolk and Western Railway hauled the world famous Pocahontas Coal from tipple to tidewater. The layout replicates this movement from the local mines to the centralized coal preparation plant and from the prep plant to the end user. Merchandise freight trains are broken up and classified for distribution on the layout. Passenger trains are extremely important because they are the only connection to civilization in remote areas served by the railroad.
