Virtual Division Meeting with Eric Hansmann

Date:
Tue, 10/13/2020 - 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Clinic:  Eric Hansmann presents "Backdating Freight Cars." Many HO scale freight car models are of prototypes built in the Teens and Twenties. The models often require alterations to brake systems, lettering, or other details to make them reflect a proper era. Many changes are simple and can enhance your freight car fleet, or inspire a modeling change to an earlier era. Simple paint patch and weigh stencil updates will also be covered.

Eric Hansmann started prototype modeling as a narrow gauger in the 1990s. He moved to standard gauge and has focused on 1926 as a modeling moment. He is currently Editor-at-Large for Model Railroad Hobbyist magazine and he manages content on the DesignBuildOp and Resin Car Works blogs.

This model is circa 1940-1950s.  Starting with sheet plastic and ending with it painted (weathered slightly) and mounted to a depressed center flat car.  I’ve built this in both HO and O ( for Steve Austin’s layout).  I would bring the finished examples.
